Las Gaviotas is the perfect quick getaway! It is less than an hour over the boarder... and when you live 20 minutes from the crossing, that's nothing! It is close to home, but feels like a whole new adventure.

Another great part about it is the safety! So many people shy away from visiting beautiful Mexico because of the violence and danger. Las Gaviotas is a safe and monitored gated community. There are guards at the gate 24/7 checking license plate numbers and reservations. Nobody gets in who isn't staying on the property.

Most of the houses are owned by Americans and very nice. They are reasonably priced and since you are cutting out essentially all travel costs to get down there, it's easier to splurge on one of the bigger, newer homes. Another highlight is the pool and hot tub! There are nice lounge chairs and the pool is well kept. The hot tub is HOT and perfect for a night-time dip.

Guests can use the tennis courts as well, so don't forget a racquet! There is a great surf break right in front of the homes, so the boys stay busy and happy.

The homes all have full size kitchens, so you can make the trip even more affordable by packing your own food to cook. Of course you will need to plan on at least a few taco stops! There are so many amazing taco shops just a few minutes off the property in Rosarito.

Downtown you can also shop around, horseback, or get corn rows in your hair! The fully authentic Mexican vacation without the expense and hassle of going down south.

All-in-all Las Gaviotas has become one of our favorite vacation spots and we plan to visit year after year.

Another perk is the churros when you're in line at the boarder to come back into the US!
